And so it begins. Redeux.

I started this blog in August, 2010 with a post titled And So It Begins. Almost three years have passed and things have changed. Things have changed a lot. I just spent the last five minutes hiding my previous 43 posts, as I feel they no longer represent my beliefs about healthy eating.

Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of overlap between then and now. I used to blog about CSAs and Farmers’ Markets, and my belief that the Standard American Diet (SAD) is counter to a human being’s health and vitality. I still believe in those things. I also used to blog about the evils of eating meat and the benefits of a vegetarian diet which included plenty of cheering and whooping about lentils and whole grains. That, I don’t believe in anymore…

A sixteen-year battle with Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) and new symptoms which had me feeling like a zombie in December of 2012, led me to seek the help of a functional medicine doctor and in February of 2013 I was diagnosed with a variety of health issues, which I will discuss in detail in a later post. These conditions are all inextricably linked together, so it’s hard to say which is the most important to address, which is the biggest trouble-maker or which came first, but the more well known include Celiac’s Disease, Intestinal Hyperpermeability (aka Leaky Gut Syndrome), Iron Deficiency Anemia, H-Pylori Infection, Dysbiosis, Hypochloridria, Hypocapnia, Adrenal Dysfunction and Immune Reactions to Casein, Soy and Egg. In other words, my gut is screwed up!

The symptoms of this group of health issues, had been plaguing me for years (actually most of my adult life), but western medicine doctors had not been able to help me. After sending me for tests, sticking cameras into my stomach and prescribing pill after pill that didn’t relieve my symptoms I was told I had Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and that I just had to live with it. Well, after seeing amazing results in the last few months, I am here to tell you:

If you suffer with IBS, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT!

Stay tuned…
